OneDrive — Find, Move, Share, And Version Files From Chat
September 1, 2026
Connect Microsoft OneDrive once and Alfrada OS can work directly with the files and folders already in your personal or work account. Find the document you mean, bring it into a session, send a finished file back, reorganize folders, manage sharing, or restore an earlier version without leaving the conversation.
What you can do
- Browse and find files — inspect the drive root, expand a known folder's children, find an exact filename or folder, or search across filenames, metadata, and file content.
- Create and organize — create folders; create UTF-8 text files in personal OneDrive; copy, move, or rename files and folders; update descriptions; and resolve name conflicts by failing, replacing, or automatically renaming.
- Move files between OneDrive and a session — upload a generated or uploaded session file to OneDrive, overwrite an existing file while preserving its item ID unless conflict handling creates a renamed copy, or download a OneDrive file into the session
in/folder. Downloads can request native format, PDF, or HTML when Microsoft supports the conversion. - Share and revoke access — create view, edit, or embed links for your organization, named recipients, or anyone with the link. List current permissions and revoke a non-inherited permission by ID.
- Recover changes — delete sends an item to the recycle bin. Alfrada OS can restore deleted items in OneDrive Personal; work and SharePoint recycle-bin restores remain in Microsoft's UI. Version tools list a file's history and restore an earlier version as the newest version.
- Use personal and Microsoft 365 storage — target the connected user's drive by default, or use supported drive-aware actions for OneDrive for Business and SharePoint-backed files.
- Connect up to three accounts — keep personal, work, and client storage separate. Alfrada OS shows the connected account and lets you target another one by its account identifier.
Where this shows up
- The file is somewhere in Microsoft 365. "Find the latest board forecast in my OneDrive, download it, and summarize the assumptions that changed." Alfrada OS resolves the file first, brings it into the session, and works from the actual content.
- The deliverable needs to land where the team works. "Upload
out/customer-renewal-pack.pdfto/Sales/Q3/Renewalsin my work OneDrive." The generated file moves from the session into the named folder without a manual download-and-upload loop. - A shared file needs controlled access. "Create an organization-only view link for the pricing workbook." Alfrada OS applies your Integration Safety setting, returns the URL, and can list or revoke the resulting permission later.
- Someone overwrote the useful version. "Show me the version history for this file and restore the version from last Friday." The older content becomes the current version without changing the file's identity or sharing link.
Try it
- "Connect my OneDrive, search for this quarter's planning files, and group the matches by folder."
- "Find
FY27 Operating Plan.xlsxin my work OneDrive, download it, and flag every assumption that differs from the workbook in this session." - "Create a folder called
Board Pack — September, then upload every final PDF from this session into it." - "Move the product roadmap into the Strategy folder and rename it
Product Roadmap — Approved.docx." - "List who can access this file, then remove the old agency permission after I approve it."
- "Show the version history for the forecast and restore the version from before yesterday's edit."
Heads up
- Most actions need an item ID, not only a filename. Alfrada OS resolves names with find or search before it moves, shares, downloads, or restores a file.
- Session uploads are capped at 5 MB per file. Larger files need to be compressed or handled outside this integration.
- Anyone-with-the-link access is never inferred. Ask explicitly for an
anonymouslink; otherwise choose organization-only or named recipients. Link creation and permission removal follow your Integration Safety approval settings. - Deleted-item restore differs by account.
onedrive_delete_itemmoves the item to the recycle bin.onedrive_restore_itemworks only for OneDrive Personal; restore work and SharePoint items through Microsoft's recycle-bin experience. - Recent items is being retired. Microsoft's endpoint behind
onedrive_get_recentis degraded and scheduled to stop returning data after November 2026. Use find, search, or root browsing when it returns no results. - Microsoft controls conversion and sharing policy. Some source formats cannot export to PDF or HTML, and tenant administrators can block or narrow requested link scopes.
- Version history follows Microsoft retention. OneDrive can prune older versions, so a frequently edited file may not retain every historical state.
