DeepSeek V4.1 Flash Moves To The October 17 Snapshot

October 19, 2026

DeepSeek V4.1 Flash now runs on DeepSeek's October 17 snapshot. Same name in the picker, same 1M context, same Budget 1×, same zero-retention hosting. The model underneath is sharper, and every chat already pinned to V4.1 Flash is on it now.

What you can do

• Pick DeepSeek V4.1 Flash from Recommended or Fast as before. It is still the 552B Causal Encoder–Decoder Flash with 8B active on input / 16B on output, reasoning and tools, 1M context and 65K max output.
• Get the stronger model with no change on your side. The October 17 snapshot scores 39.5 on the Artificial Analysis intelligence index, up from 24.7 for the September weights, and places top-ten on Design Arena for websites.
• Let Auto pick it. V4.1 Flash stays in the workhorse Auto pool at quality 60, and stays Swarm-eligible.
• Stay on zero-retention hosts. Every request is pinned to OpenRouter endpoints that keep nothing and can call tools. DeepSeek's own endpoint is not one of them, so your request never goes there.

Where this shows up

You have a chat pinned to DeepSeek V4.1 Flash from last month. Your next turn runs on the October 17 snapshot. Nothing to switch.

You leave the model on Auto. On a workhorse turn, Alfrada OS can pick DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, and it now gets the newer weights.

You want Flash-class coding or long-horizon agent work at Budget 1× without leaving zero-retention hosting. Pin DeepSeek V4.1 Flash.

Try it

• Pick DeepSeek V4.1 Flash from Recommended, then: "Refactor this module across files, keep tool use tight, and show your reasoning."
• "Read this repository, plan the migration, implement it, and verify the risky paths."
• "Build a one-page landing site for this product brief and iterate on the layout."

Heads up

• Budget 1× is unchanged. Community accounts capped at 1× can still pick it, and Auto can still route to it.
• Pinned sessions roll forward automatically. Chats on the September V4.1 Flash, and older chats that already rolled from MiniMax M3 or Nemotron 3 Ultra, carry on in the October 17 snapshot.
• Global only. V4.1 Flash is not available through EU in-region routing. Pick a model with the blue EU flag when you need EU residency.
