PDF Creator — Every Page You Can Build for the Web, Now as a PDF

September 15, 2026

The tool that made your PDFs was the oldest thing in Alfrada OS. It built documents one hand-coded instruction at a time, which meant it could only produce the handful of layouts someone had written Python for — and it hunted your server's filesystem for a font that could draw a checkmark. If it didn't find one, it quietly swapped your ✓ for a [x].

PDF Creator replaces it. Alfrada OS now writes an ordinary web page and prints it with a real browser (headless Chromium — the same engine already behind Dashboard exports). Anything that renders in a browser renders in your PDF: proper layouts, real typefaces, every character, live charts. And because the page is described in CSS rather than Python, you can ask for the document you actually want.

What you can do

  • Ask for a PDF that looks designed — multi-column layouts, cards, sidebars, pull quotes, coloured section banners, full-bleed cover pages. Previously the layout menu was fixed; now it's whatever you can describe.
  • Get every character you type — full Unicode. Checkmarks (✓), arrows (→), maths (∑ ≈ ≤), currency (₨ ₺ ₩), Japanese, Arabic, Urdu, emoji. Nothing is substituted, and nothing renders as a hollow box.
  • Use real typefaces — any Google Font, embedded into the PDF so it looks the same on every machine that opens it.
  • Put live charts in a document — Chart.js and inline SVG draw at full print resolution instead of being pasted in as a flat screenshot.
  • Choose the page — A4, Letter, Legal, A3, A5, A6, Tabloid, Ledger, portrait or landscape, or a custom size in mm/inches/pixels.
  • Make a 16:9 slide deck as a PDF — slide_16x9 (or slide_4x3) renders one true widescreen page per slide. The old tool advertised a "Rich Slide Deck" that was actually a vertical A4 report; this one is a real deck.
  • Set your own margins — one value for all sides or per-side, in any CSS unit.
  • Add running headers and footers — repeated on every page, with live page numbers ("Page 3 of 12"), the document title, or the date. Page numbering wasn't previously possible at all.
  • Include your charts and logos — reference a session file the normal way (out/revenue.png) and its image is embedded into the PDF for you. If a reference can't be found, you're told which one rendered blank instead of discovering it yourself on page 6.

Where this shows up

  • You asked for a client-ready report with your brand colours, a cover page, and "Page X of Y" in the footer. You get exactly that, rather than the one house layout.
  • Your quarterly review has a ✓/✗ status column. Every mark renders — no more mystery boxes where the ticks should be.
  • You want the deck as a PDF, 16:9, one slide per page, for someone who won't open PowerPoint.
  • You made a chart with Code Executor earlier in the session and want it in the write-up. Drop it in by filename; it lands in the PDF.
  • You're writing a bilingual summary in English and Urdu. Both scripts render correctly in one document.

Try it

  • "Turn this analysis into a PDF report — cover page, our brand colours, and page numbers in the footer."
  • "Make me a 16:9 PDF slide deck from these findings, one idea per slide."
  • "Produce a one-page A4 summary in landscape with three columns and the revenue chart from earlier."
  • "Write this up as a PDF with a table of status ticks and crosses, and use a serif font."

Heads up

  • PDF and Word are now separate tools. PDF Creator makes PDFs. For an editable .docx — a memo someone will redline, a file that must open in Word — Alfrada OS uses Word Ops, which also creates new documents, not just edits uploaded ones. Just say which you want; you don't have to name the tool.
  • The old built-in Word branding is gone for now. The retired tool shipped one fixed Strategize-branded Word template. If you have a house template, save it under Settings → Templates and Alfrada OS will fill that instead — which keeps your branding rather than ours.
  • Images come from your session or from HTTPS. Session files (out/chart.png) and secure web URLs work. Plain http:// and private network addresses are blocked for security and render as a placeholder with the alt text.
  • Free on every plan — no per-call charge, same as the tool it replaces.
